We are always excited to highlight new acts at Edinburgh Tradfest, but we're equally buzzing about the chance to share with you some of Scotland's incredible master musicians who will be wowing our audiences this May.

RACHEL NEWTON
Winner of Musician of the Year at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and Scots Trad Awards, Rachel has had two albums shortlisted in the Scottish Album of the Year award

SIMON BRADLEY TRIO
A stalwart of the 1990s Edinburgh session scene, highly respected composer and performer Simon has recently moved back to the capital.

TRIPTIC
A brand new band formed from the embers of the highly acclaimed and much loved Moishe’s Bagel. Featuring three musicians of peerless pedigree – Phil Alexander, Greg Lawson and Mario Caribé.

SIMON THOUMIRE & DAVE MILLIGAN
Two monsters of Scottish traditional music whose virtuosity is matched by their command and knowledge of Scottish traditional tunes. Both are also fine composers. Their delight in playing together is palpable.

Appearing at The Traverse on Saturday 11 May.

DÀIMH
With more than two decades together, this West Highland supergroup is known for the sort of high energy gigs that have seen them named as Folk Band of the Year at the Scots Trad Awards twice. Very much supporting the resurgence in Gaelic culture, Dàimh are a must-see act.

JULIE FOWLIS
Julie’s voice has been streamed on Spotify alone 120 million times. She sang live at the closing ceremony of the Ryder Cup to 500 million, an event only eclipsed by singing live at the opening ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, to a TV audience of over 1 billion.

ARCHIE FISHER
Reflecting on a seven decade career, Archie will be giving the annual Rebellious Truth lecture at Edinburgh Tradfest 24. Expect lots of great stories, reminiscences and songs from the man who knows more than most how traditional music has changed over the past 70 years.

LAURA WILKIE
Fiddle-player, composer and arranger extraordinaire, Laura has played with everyone from Kinnaris Quintet to Fatherson and Shooglenifty. About to launch her highly anticipated debut solo album, Vent, she brings her unique voice to Edinburgh Tradfest’s closing concert.
