EVIE WADDELL
Evie Waddell, a native of Stirlingshire, is a renowned Gaelic and Scots singer and fiddler. Her musical journey began at a young age, nurtured by her participation in the intergenerational community group Riverside Music Project and her education within the Gaelic-medium school system. She honed her skills further at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, graduating with a BMus in Traditional Music.
Deeply influenced by Scottish musical traditions, Evie's passion was ignited by the likes of Jo Miller, Ivor Cutler, Martyn Bennet, Lisa O Neill, and Rhiannon Giddens. Her dedication to her craft led to numerous opportunities to showcase her talents across various mediums. In 2020, she captivated audiences with her performances in British Sign Language (BSL), Gaelic, acting, music, and dance in the play MAIM by Theatre Gu Leòr, alongside WHYTE.
In 2022, Evie embarked on her own creative journey, directing and touring her show titled Fàilte Gu BSL. That same year, she achieved a significant milestone by winning the Danny Kyle Open Stage. Her debut EP, Leviathan, released in January 2023 and was followed by her second release Faultlines in June 2023, these marked the beginning of her solo career.
Continuing her ascent in the music scene, Evie Waddell emerged as a finalist in the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2024, solidifying her place among the brightest talents in the industry. Her latest project, the visual EP Cluich!, released in February 2024, showcases her innovation and artistry.
