BRIAN MOLLEY QUARTET: TÙS/ORIGIN

‘Brian Molley never wastes a note’MOJO Magazine

The origins of jazz lie in lots of places, but one of those places is definitely Scotland. Glasgow’s Brian Molley Quartet present a new suite of music celebrating the fact that jazz is a lot more Scottish than we all think. Featuring Traditional Folk, Afro-Caribbean Groove, Gospel, Sea-Shanty and Fugue this is exhilarating jazz performed by a long established, world-travelled and multi award winning group of Scotland’s finest.

The first Scottish immigrants to travel to Canada and America shared their folk songs on their journeys, including a uniquely Scottish musical tradition known as call-and-response line-singing. This way of making music would become a core element in the development of Jazz and Popular Music and it's the foundation of BMQ’s celebration of the Scottish roots of Jazz.
