Receiving a Special Mention from the Berlinale’s 2024 Documentary Jury, this remarkable, poetic documentary presents a tour of Italy’s rich folk traditions from Calabria and Marche to Liguria and Sicily. As passed down orally from generation to generation, Canone Effimero presents a series of unique, musical customs, each one rooted in place, community and deep lived experiences, which together combine to form a network of radical countercultures across Italy. 

This screening is presented in collaboration with the Scottish Documentary Institute and will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
